The Benefits
The Benefits of
Child Therapy
Skills, not just
talk
Children learn concrete tools for handling worry, frustration, and big feelings — practiced in session, used at home and school.
Parents in
the loop
You are part of the process. We share what we're working on and coach you on how to reinforce it between sessions.
A place that
feels safe
Through play-based and age-appropriate approaches, therapy feels like connection — not an interrogation — so kids open up.
The Stakes
When Big Feelings Run the House
Meltdowns that hijack the evening. Worries that show up at bedtime. School refusals, stomachaches, tears over small things. When a child is struggling, the whole family feels it — and waiting for them to “grow out of it” often means watching the same patterns dig in deeper. Early, skilled support changes the trajectory.
The Approach
What Does Child Therapy Look Like?

What We Treat
Common Reasons Families
Bring Their Child In
Anxiety and worry
Anxiety is the most common reason children come to us. CBT for childhood anxiety is one of the best-studied treatments in psychology — kids learn to face fears gradually and build real confidence. Read more about how evidence-based child anxiety treatment works.
Behavior struggles and big emotions
When a young child’s behavior is running the household, working with parents is often the fastest path to change. Ask about our parenting support programs (PCIT & SPACE) — powerful approaches where parents become the agents of change.
Selective mutism
A child who speaks freely at home but goes silent at school may be experiencing selective mutism — an anxiety condition that responds well to specialized, gradual treatment. Learn the signs here.
School stress and refusal
Sunday-night stomachaches, morning battles, calls from the school counselor. We identify what’s underneath — anxiety, learning frustration, social dynamics — and treat the cause rather than the symptom.

Questions About Child Therapy
What ages do you work with?
We work with children from the preschool years through adolescence, adjusting the approach — from play-based work to skills-focused CBT — to fit your child’s age and development.
Will I be involved in my child's therapy?
Yes — especially for younger children, parent involvement is one of the strongest predictors of progress. Expect regular check-ins, practical guidance, and for some concerns, parent-led approaches like PCIT or SPACE.
In-person or virtual — which is better?
We offer both: in-person sessions at our Coral Gables office and virtual sessions across Florida. For young children we often recommend starting in person; for older kids and parent sessions, virtual works beautifully. We’ll advise honestly at the consultation.
Do you accept insurance?
No, we do not accept insurance. You may contact your insurance provider regarding potential out-of-network reimbursement.
How long does child therapy take?
Evidence-based child therapy is typically goal-focused rather than open-ended. Many children make meaningful progress within a few months; we review goals with you regularly so you always know where things stand.
