The Benefits
The Benefits of
Teen Therapy
A neutral
corner
Teens get a space that isn't school and isn't family — where they can be honest without managing anyone's reaction.
Skills for
right now
Anxiety spirals, academic pressure, friend drama, low motivation — teens learn concrete tools for the exact things they're facing this semester.
Parents guided,
trust intact
We keep you appropriately informed and coached without breaking your teen's trust — a balance we take seriously.
The Stakes
When Your Teen Is Slipping Away
The door stays closed more. Grades dip, or perfectionism tightens its grip. The kid who told you everything now answers in monosyllables, and you’re left reading moods like weather. Adolescence is turbulent by design — but withdrawal, persistent anxiety, and sinking mood are signals worth acting on, not waiting out.

- CBT for anxiety and negative thought spirals
- DBT-informed emotion regulation skills
- Exposure work for social anxiety

What We Treat
What Brings Teens
to Therapy
Anxiety and pressure
Academic load, college anxiety, social evaluation — often all at once. CBT gives teens a way to catch the spiral early and act on evidence rather than dread.
Low mood and withdrawal
When motivation disappears and nothing sounds fun, we work on re-engagement — behavioral activation, thought work, and rebuilding momentum — while monitoring carefully and involving parents as needed.
Perfectionism and burnout
The straight-A student who’s quietly drowning is one of the most common teens we see. We help them keep the drive while dropping the self-punishment. More on our approach to therapy for perfectionism.
Executive functioning
Missing work, late-night panic-cramming, a backpack that looks like a crime scene. We build planning and study systems teens actually keep using — a signature specialty of our practice.

Questions About Teen Therapy
My teen says therapy is stupid. Now what?
Extremely normal. We’re good at first sessions with skeptical teens — low pressure, genuinely useful, no psychoanalyzing. Many change their mind after meeting us. If they truly won’t engage, parent-based strategies can still move things forward.
Will you tell me what my teen says in session?
We keep a careful balance: teens need confidentiality for therapy to work, and parents need to know about safety concerns and overall progress. We set these expectations clearly with both of you at the start.
Virtual or in person for teens?
Both work. Plenty of teens open up more readily from their own room; others do better in the office. We offer in-person sessions in Coral Gables and virtual sessions across Florida.
Do you accept insurance?
No, we do not accept insurance. You may contact your insurance provider regarding potential out-of-network reimbursement.
What if my teen needs more than therapy?
If we believe your teen needs a higher level of care, testing, or a medication consultation, we’ll say so directly and help coordinate the referral. You’ll never be left guessing.
